The Story Of Resurrection Mary

rez-mary.JPG

This story has been told time and time again over the years. The story of a spirit that many have seen over the years on the road outside Resurrection Cemetery in Chicago. Some call Mary the most famous ghost in the city. As the story goes, a woman is picked up on the side of the road. She is usually picked up by men, and she is dressed formally in a white dress and dancing shoes. She is often quiet, and when the man drives near Resurrection Cemetery, she asks them to stop and let her out. She then disappears into the cemetery.

There is also one story where she is seen at a dance, and she dances with a boy there. The boy then offers to take her home and lends her his jacket because she is so cold. The same thing happens. He drops her off at the cemetery, but she takes his coat with her. The next day when he comes for his jacket, he finds it laying on the grave of Mary. This ghost story has fascinated many over the years. It has become the subject of television shows, and movies have been made about it.

Mary is said to be one of two young women that died in the late twenties or early thirties following a night at the Oh Henry Ballroom. As the legend goes, she had a fight with her boyfriend and left him there to walk home alone. She was hit and killed by a driver and buried in Resurrection Cemetery. Many have seen the ghost of Mary since 1939. What do you think? If you live in Chicago, have you ever seen Mary for yourself.

Is Santa Claus Real?

santa-claus.jpg

With Christmas just a week away, talk about the jolly old fat man seem to be increasing. We are taught as we get older that there is no such thing as Santa Claus. He is something made up for children, and there are stories told about him. However, what if you happened to actually see the jolly old fat guy for yourself one Christmas? Would you think he was so fake?

While looking through the news this morning, I found this one account of someone who is now thirty years old who believes they saw Santa Claus in their home one Christmas Eve. This the person’s story:

As the night went on, we were talking while the others were sleeping. Suddenly we had this strange feeling come over us. We looked up, and at the entrance standing there staring at us was this big man in the shadows, with light shining on him, just barely. He was all dressed up in red and white, white beard — yes! SANTA CLAUS! I don’t know if we were scared or just startled, but I remember us pulling the blankets over our heads.

Did  they see Santa Claus? Have you ever seen him? It might sound crazy, but this brings back to my mind a time when I was a child thinking I saw Santa. I don’t think it was Christmas Eve, but it might have been. That is fuzzy, but I didn’t just see him. Santa carried me. I remember seeing the red and white suit so clearly, and for days after I remember telling my mom that Santa Claus had carried me to bed. She just laughed it off. but I remembered it this morning while I was reading this story.

So real or fake? Tell me do you still believe in Santa Claus?

The Poltergeist At Enfield

One of the most popular ghost stories in recent history is of the ghost of Enfield in London. This ghost haunted a family for two years back in the late 1970s. The single mother and her four children were attacked by this one angry spirit of a man that was said to once live in the house, Bill Hobbs. The family was terrorized during those two years, and the attacks only became worse as time went on.

The children, especially the oldest daughter, Janet, were the focus of the tasks, and they became deadly serious as the spirit in the house tried to kill the children. One boy was struck in the head. Another narrowly missed being crushed by an iron grate that was thrown onto his bed. Those that lived in the same town as the family thought it was a hoax being put on by the family, but it wasn’t.

The events really happened, and one day in 1979 they somehow just stopped happening. The spirit from them on left them alone. Stories such as this one have always fascinated me. The claims by the family were investigated by Maurice Gross, and you can see some pictures they took during their investigation below. In one of the pictures, it looks like one of the children is being levitated. What do you think? Have you heard of this haunting case before?

The Ghost Of Thanksgiving

Published by Regina Avalos under Ghosts, Stories Edit This

Today in the United States, it is a holiday. The Thanksgiving holiday which goes back to the time of the first English settlers at Plymouth Rock in 1620, and the way the Indians helped them that first year. It is a day to spend with family, and loved ones. A time to be thankful for your life and the good you have in it. It is a day to spend together.

Today, I will be spend this day with my own family, my father and my brother. I will be thankful for having them both in my life, no matter how much at times they may drive me crazy. They are family, and that goes beyond all the petty and stupid arguments.

Today, as I searched the Internet for something to share with you about this holiday, I came across a Thanksgiving ghost story. I found several actually. Some were stories told by people that had strange things happen to them on this holiday when they gathered around the table for their holiday dinners. This one caught my eye though.

He was uninvited: indeed he wasn’t there. He had somehow appeared, coming out of the woods on that cold and dreary Thanksgiving Day, knocking on our door seeking shelter from the storm. And what an odd holiday evening that it turned out being because of him. This gentleman had brought his own brand of Thanksgiving merrymaking into our family circle on that austere, wet day back on that November twenty-eighth.

Read the rest of the story about what happens when one family kills a very special bird for their Thanksgiving dinner called The Ghost Of Thanksgiving here . To those out there that celebrate this day, have the best of days with your families and loved ones.
