Another well known haunted location is The Stanley Hotel. This hotel rests high in the mountains outside of Denver, and it is said to be the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining. This novel has been made into two movies. The first of which starred Jack Nicholson, and it is one of his best performances.

King received the inspiration for his book after spending just one night in Room 217, one of the more haunted rooms of the hotel. It was once the location of an explosion back in the 1920’s where a maid almost lost her life. She was spared by the collapse of the floor which sent her down to the floor below. It is said that she still haunts the room, and she will do her regular maid duties when the room’s guests are out.

Another haunted room is 401. There is a spirit of a man that didn’t seem too fond of having people in his room when the investigators did their walk through. The team from Most Haunted spent the night at the hotel, and they had a number of experiences. One man had an experience in room 217 while he was doing psychic sketching. The door next to his chair opened ride. This one hotel has always fascinated me.

Ghost Hunters has been there more once, and it was interesting to see Most Haunted visit the location. I’m not the biggest fan of this series. It is a bit more on the campy said than Ghost Hunters in, but they did work well on the site, and they did so with guests staying in the hotel. I’m sure this won’t be the last time I talk about this haunted location.
