The Pinatubo Monster

Lake and river monsters are not a new topic. We’ve had lake monsters such as Nessie and Champ for years now, and people try to capture evidence of these creatures as often as possible. Other such monsters are located in various parts of the world. Some believe they are creatures surviving from the time of the dinosaurs. Most monsters such as these live among us with no problems, but this isn’t the case with the creatures giving one Phillippine village.
A small village has been plagued by sightings and attacks by a creature that looks like a cross between a catfish and a shark. Some have also called it snake like. The first sightings of these creatures began in 2002. More sightings followed in the months after the first, and the people became so frightened that they banned people from going into the river. The main source of their diet was from fish, so this has made a drastic change in their lifestyles since then. Their diet now consists of frogs.
People have gone in to investigate the creatures, including Destination Truth from the Sci-Fi Channel, but the creatures weren’t spotted during the team’s visit. A video from that series is below. These creatures have been terrorizing the small village for years now. Is the Pinatubo monster something from the time or the dinosaurs or is their a more modern explaination for these river monsters? One possible explanation was given for these creatures:
Another theory often disregarded is that the Pinatubo Monster is the product of toxic waste dumped into the river creating new mutant hybrid creatures…Since the locals have stopped fishing for safety reasons, we have yet to hear of any reports of fish being toxic or causing birth defects in villages.
Is this possible? Could the mercury poisoning the water near the village be to blame for the creation of this strange creature? What do you think?
